Answers to the questions merchants ask most often before and after installing AgentRank.
What does AgentRank actually do?
AgentRank reads your product catalog the way an AI shopping assistant reads it, scores how understandable each product is, and shows you the specific fields that are missing. It then proposes values for those fields and applies the ones you approve.
Which AI assistants does it cover?
Scoring reflects how assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude read structured product data. Traffic reporting matches referrals from those assistants, and also recognises Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Perplexity when they send visits.
Will it change my products without asking?
No. Every suggested value is shown to you first. You can untick any product, edit any value, and nothing is written to your store until you press Apply. Applied changes can be undone from the dashboard.
Where are the changes stored?
Approved attributes are written to Shopify metafields on the product, using the Shopify Standard Taxonomy where one applies. They are published to your storefront as structured data through the AgentRank theme app embed.
Do I need to enable anything in my theme?
Yes. Publishing structured data requires the AgentRank JSON-LD app embed to be enabled in your theme editor. The dashboard tells you whether it is currently on and links you to the right place.
Does AgentRank require the Online Store?
Yes. AgentRank uses a theme app extension and reads and writes theme files, so the Online Store sales channel must be available on your shop.
How long does the first analysis take?
Most catalogs finish within a few minutes. Products are analysed in batches, and the sync page shows progress as it runs. You can leave the page and come back.
How is AI traffic measured?
AgentRank reads your own Shopify analytics and matches sessions whose referrer or campaign source belongs to a known AI assistant. Revenue shown is revenue from those sessions on your real orders. Connecting Google Analytics and Search Console is optional and read-only.
What happens if I uninstall?
Attributes already written to your products stay on your products, as they belong to your store. AgentRank stops analysing and reporting, and its stored records for your shop are removed in line with the privacy policy.
